Substitute Teacher

When to Apply:

The Beaumont Unified School District recruits for substitute teachers on an as needed basis via Edjoin.org. Please check Edjoin.org for current openings.

Requirements:

When applying for a substitute teacher position, you must possess a valid teaching permit or credential. If you do not currently possess a valid teaching permit or credential, please apply for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit before applying online to one of our job postings. You may apply for this permit online at: http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/online-services/DA-online-steps.html. To qualify for this permit, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university, passed the CBEST exam, and have completed fingerprinting for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (more information on fingerprinting is provided in the previous link). Please email the Commission on Teacher Credentialing with any credentialing or credential application questions at: credentials@ctc.ca.gov.

Rate of Pay:

The rate of pay for substitute teachers is $120.00 per day, or $130.00 per day for fully credentialed substitutes. All substitutes are paid $150.00 per day on the 21st continuous day in the same classroom. No substitute shall be permitted to work beyond 30 days in a classroom for which they do not possess the appropriate credential, or beyond 20 days in a special education classroom without a special education credential in the appropriate specialty area.

Screening Process:

Preference is given to teachers with a full teaching credential, including a teacher preparation program and student teaching, especially special education credentials, then to applicants who live within 20 miles from Beaumont, CA. Positions during this time are competitive, and we regret that we are unable to hire all applicants for these positions.

If you should have any other questions, please contact the Credential Technician at (951) 845-1631 extension 5316.
